Collaborative information seeking

Collaborative information seeking is a field of research that involves studying situations, motivations, and methods for people working in collaborative groups for information seeking projects, as well as building systems for supporting such activities. Such projects often involve information searching or information retrieval, information gathering, and information sharing. Conceptualization (information science)

In information science a conceptualization is an abstract simplified view of some selected part of the world, containing the objects, concepts, and other entities that are presumed of interest for some particular purpose and the relationships between them. An explicit specification of a conceptualization is an ontology, and it may occur that a conceptualization can be realized by several distinct ontologies. An ontological commitment in describing ontological comparisons is taken to refer to that subset of elements of an ontology shared with all the others. "An ontology is language-depende ...

Conference on Semantics in Healthcare and Life Sciences

The Conference on Semantics in Healthcare and Life Sciences was a scientific meeting on the practical applications of semantic technology to pharmaceutical R&D, healthcare, and life sciences. The conference was held annually from 2008 to 2014, and was the premier meeting in this domain. In 2015, it as organised as a special interests group meeting of the Intelligent Systems for Molecular Biology conference. Conference topics included a World Wide Web Consortium tutorial on semantic web standards. In 2012, CSHALS took on the additional topic of the application of Big Data to healthcare ...

d3web is a free, open-source platform for knowledge-based systems. Its core is written in Java using XML and/or Office-based formats for the knowledge storage. All of its components are distributed under the terms of the Lesser General Public Licence. The d3web diagnostic core implements reasoning and persistence components for problem-solving knowledge including decision trees, heuristic rules, set-covering models and diagnostic flowcharts. The software can be integrated into foreign applications embedded or OEM, but a number of off-the-shelf components already exist.
