Farrokh Shahr is a city in the Central District of Shahrekord County, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province, Iran. This province is a high altitude and pretty plateau in center of Iran surrounded by the famous Zakros Mountains. Farrokh Shahr is located at the higher parts of this plateau and is surrounded by the highest summits of Zakros Mountains Chain. Many running springs and brooks used to run through it irrigating its splendid orchids and gardens at earlier days. At the 2006 census, its population was 28.920, in 7.532 families.

Farrukh Shahr is located 12 km 7.5 km from the provincial capital, shahrekord. Most people that live in this city work in agriculture and industrial centers in the province. Driving trucks and government jobs like teaching are the most popular jobs in the city.

Sarcheshme Park, with year-round source cascading down on top of the city, in the foothills, is one of the most beautiful and attractive places in Farrah Shahr, which attracts large number of visitors. People with Farrukh Shahr and neighboring towns often go to the Park for picnics and recreation, especially in spring and summer.

People Farrok Shahr is not only culturally very hardworking and are well known for their skill and creating some of the finest and most durable of handmade carpets in the world, but also appreciated for their high intelligence and keen interest in art, literature, poetry and science.

Some of the famous poets of Iran who were born in Farrok Shahr, are Asef, Sabet, a, Danesh Ghatreh, Emami, Farhang, Ghodsi, Hattefi, Danshvar, Shafiei, Zarreh.

Next to the poets, a number of prominent Iranian scientists, especially doctors, scientists and engineers were born in Farokh Shah.

The former Queen of Iran, Soraya Esfandiari, the second wife of Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi late king of Iran, which is one of the most beautiful women in the world was born in Farrah Shahr and spent part of his childhood in this city. Her fathers castle in Farokh Shahr was well preserved until a few years ago, and recently destroyed.
