Athlete Refugee Team

Athlete Refugee Team is the category under which refugees athletes can compete at international IAAF competitions. Official IAAF logo is used as the teams flag. They competed at the 2017 World Championships in Athletics, 2017 IAAF World Relays, 2018 IAAF World U20 Championships and 2019 World Athletics Championships. One athlete Puok Thiep Gatkuoth in mens marathon was announced to compete at the 2018 European Athletics Championships, but finally he didnt start.

Authorised Neutral Athletes

Authorised Neutral Athlete is the category under which Russian athletes can compete at international competitions after the doping scandal which first came to light in December 2014.

Authorised Neutral Athletes at the 2017 World Championships in Athletics

The Authorised Neutral Athletes are Russian athletes who are permitted to compete in the 2017 World Championships in Athletics by special permission, despite the IAAFs suspension of the Russian Athletic Federation. In order to compete, Russian athletes must demonstrate that they were not involved in the doping scandal that precipitated Russias suspension from international athletics.

Authorised Neutral Athletes at the 2018 European Athletics Championships

Due to past doping rules violations by the Russian Athletics Federation, the IAAF classified Russian athletes at the 2018 European Athletics Championships as "Authorized Neutral Athletes" instead of counting them as Russian participants. A Kuwaiti athlete competed at the 2016 Asian Beach Games in Danang, Vietnam as part of the Independent Athletes from September 24 to October 5, 2016.
