Ablainzevelle

A small farming village located 11 miles 18 km south of Arras, at the D7 and D12 road junction. It was rebuilt after being destroyed during World War I.

Achiet-le-Petit

The commune was involved in the theatre of operations of the Battle of Bapaume 1871, during the Franco-Prussian War. In 1700, Charles Jacques Adrien de Mullet, seigneur of Wancquetin demolished the remains of the small castle, knocking down the motte and filling in most of the moat. He then built a chateau, using white bricks and stones, enclosed by large garden walls. In 1789, the castle was looted and destroyed during the Revolution, leaving no trace of the edifice. Acq, Pas-de-Calais

The remains of a motte of an ancient castle. Two menhirs nearby, known as the Stones of Acq. The church of St.Gery, dating from the sixteenth century.

Acquin-Westbecourt

A village, located 9 miles 15 km west of Saint-Omer, at the D225 and D208 crossroads. Seven hamlets are found within the commune: Le val dAcquin, Lauwerdal, Nordal, Le Poovre, Westbecourt, Merzoil et and La Wattine. A large national nature reserve has been created in the area, of great ecological interest.

Agny

World War I 1914–1918. War broke out in August 1914 and in September troops were massed on the territory. Agny quickly found itself on the front line. As it was also on a railway line, it was easy to approach the theatre of operations. In October 1914, violent fighting allowed the German army to advance. A bloody battle took place on 25 September 1915. The French 135th Infantry Regiment lost 38 officers and 1162 men killed, wounded or missing. The church, built in 1877, in Neo-Gothic style. The chapel de Bavemont, built in 1809.
